In June we spent 2.5 weeks in Europe (P had a conference in Switzerland and we decided to swing by the UK to visit friends/relatives as well).
The Cotswalds are the quintessential England towns- this is definitely what we'd always imagined it would be like here:
After a very quick stay in the UK, we headed to Switzerland. Our main base post-conference was Grindelwald. R was pretty impressed with the view from our hotel room:
We spent 5 lovely days there doing day trips around the whole region. The weather was marvelous the whole time. We lucked out in that anywhere you go in Switzerland you can rent baby hiking backpacks.
We even took the train to Jungfraujoch- the "top of the world" (or at least the highest train station in the world, purportedly). It was pretty spectacular:
but quite touristy (here's an ice tunnel they built in the visitors center, just for kicks):
Overall, R seemed to definitely be enjoying the traveling life:
We rounded out the tour of Switzerland with a visit to the Matterhorn but our good weather luck ran out and we only caught a fleeting glimpse of it through the rain clouds. R was a good sport about it though. :)
