Green Christmas in Mendocino

We spent Christmas in Mendocino, a town on the California coast a few hours north of San Francisco. It was the opposite of the white Christmases we're used to in New England; the temperature was relatively warm, and instead of snow there was only heavy rain (although we did get caught in a brief hail storm on one of our walks!).

But the scenery was gorgeous: huge waves crashing into the rocky coastline, and giant Redwood trees nourished by all the rain.

We went on several hikes along the coast and in the woods.

The food and company were wonderful, and watching R makes us feel as mesmerized and cozy as if we were in front of a roaring fire.

A very California Christmas tree
